About Ektelon Pickleball
Ektelon was founded in 1964 by Franklin W. “Bud” Held in Bordentown Township, New Jersey. The company originally manufactured the first racquetball racquets and played a foundational role in the development of the sport. The name Ektelon derives from the Greek words ‘ektein’ (to stretch) and ‘telon’ (perfection), reflecting the brand’s pursuit of performance excellence.
Ektelon pioneered the first composite racquet in 1978, revolutionizing racquet sport equipment. The brand was purchased by Prince Sports in 1988, combining two racquet sport powerhouses. After manufacturing ceased around 2015-2016, Ektelon was revived specifically for pickleball in 2022, bringing decades of racquet sport engineering to a new audience.
Ektelon pickleball paddles are USAP approved and sold through Pickleball Warehouse. The brand’s four-model lineup — O3 Silver, O3 White, Toron, and Quantum — covers the full range from beginner to mid-premium play. Ektelon’s historical sponsorships include IRT and LPRT racquetball professionals, with pickleball sponsorships still developing.
